Here's what we look at on a truck:

• Engine and transmission: whether it starts, drives and shifts normally. On diesels, tell us about any injector, turbo or emissions-system problems.
• 4x4: whether four-wheel drive engages and works.
• Frame and bed: rust, cracks or damage to the frame and bed.
• Equipment and modifications: racks, toolboxes, liftgates, lift kits and wheels. Just tell us what's on it.
• Title: whether it's clean, salvage, or has a loan on it.

Photos to text us

Photos help us give you an accurate number the first time. Text these to 626-999-2950:

• All four sides: front, back and both sides, from far enough away to see the whole vehicle.
• The dashboard with the key on: so we can see the mileage and any warning lights.
• The VIN: the plate at the bottom of the windshield on the driver's side, or the sticker in the driver's door jamb.
• The interior: front seats and back seats.
• Any damage up close: dents, rust, cracked glass, leaks, torn seats.
• Under the hood, if you can open it.
• The front of the title or registration, if you have it, so we can see whose name it's in and whether a lender is listed.

For trucks, also send a photo of the bed and of any equipment you're including.

Trucks titled to a business

If the truck is registered to a company, tell us when you call. We'll need to know who is able to sign the title for the business. If a bank or lender still holds the title, see our guide to selling with a title problem.

Payment and pickup

We pay in cash at pickup, before the truck leaves your property. Towing is free, including trucks that don't run. Pickup is often the same day you accept our offer, and most sellers are paid within 24 to 48 hours of their first call.
